Free coffee, donuts Monday on Market Street

YOUNGSTOWN

Commuters on their way to work, hospitals, or Youngstown State University via Market Street can enjoy a free cup of coffee and donut from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Monday to celebrate the 99th anniversary of Youngstown St. Patrick Church.

The event will take place at Community Corrections Association, 1507 Market Street, just south of Williamson Avenue. Mayor Jay Williams will be greeting drivers during the first hour, and Bishop George V. Murry will be on hand during the second hour.

According to Father Edward P. Noga, church pastor, “St. Patrick Church is a welcoming sign of permanence amidst a neighborhood of change, striving to provide love, trust, and support to all.”

The multi-cultural parish is often referred to as “a beacon of hope in the heart of the city.”

In 1911, the Cleveland Diocese, which included Youngstown, recognized that the growing number of parishioners at St. Columba Church necessitated the establishment of an additional church on the city’s South Side. St. Patrick Church opened on May 24 that year.

Commuters are encouraged to help the parish celebrate by participating in this unique anniversary event. For more information, contact the parish office, 330-743-1109.
