Sister Ann Willits, a Sinsinawa Dominican from Sinsinawa, Wis., will be the featured speaker for the First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown on June 3 at Antone’s Banquet Centre, 8578 Market St.

Sister Ann’s topic will be “Keeping a Sense of Humor in Life.”

The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m. The cost is $15.

Caf Redeemed

Redeemed Life Ministries will sponsor Caf Redeemed on June 4 at First Presbyterian Church fellowship hall, 201 Wick Ave.

“Island Praise” featuring Leo Furgeson and the Decision Band will provide music for the event with fellowship, food, praise and worship.

The meal will be served at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for children from 3 to 12 years old.

Drive-in worship

First United Methodist Church, 181 S. Main St., will sponsor drive-in outdoor services for campers and others who wish to attend.

Services, scheduled at 9:30 a.m., will begin May 30 and continue Sundays through Sept. 5 at Wildwood Acres Campgrounds, intersection of state Route 7 and Marvin Road. Special music will include Sound Witness on June 27, Circle of Friends on Aug. 8 and Dan Schall, Aug. 22.

This is the 38th year at the campgrounds and the 47th overall. Participants may stay in their cars or bring lawn chairs.

Prayer initiative

Shenango Valley for Christ, a prayer initiative in the Shenango Valley, will meet at 9:30 a.m. today at Missionary Baptist Church, 1138 Spearman Ave. The group will pray together and then divide into groups to travel to “pressure points” of government, education, business, media and spiritual centers.

Honoring teachers

St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 159 Todd Ave., will honor its Sunday School teachers, including Ralph Fisher of Sharon with perfect attendance for 73 years, when it celebrates Pentecost on Sunday.

There will be a salad smorgasbord after the 11 a.m. worship service.

The church also will host 29 fire and police chaplains and clergy from four states on Monday and Tuesday for “Pastoral Crisis Intervention” by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation.

The Rev. Ed Hatcher, an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, vice president of the Missouri Fire Chaplain Corps and a retired Air Force chaplain, will teach the class at Hermitage Fire Station 3 on Maple Avenue.

He will be joined by the Rev. David Williamson, pastor of St. Paul’s and chaplain of the Hermitage Fire and Police Departments.

He is a certified chaplain in the International Conference of Police Chaplains and a certified instructor and “master chaplain” in the Federation of Fire Chaplains.
