Township park hosts summer concerts

The Celebration Grove the Austintown Rotary Club started five years ago is doing exactly what it’s meant to do — giving residents a place to sit and enjoy the season and the pleasant surroundings.

The Summer Concert Series is set to begin with the Austintown Middle School Art Festival on June 1 and Rock Chirchiglia Band beginning the music on June 8. Concerts are held at 7 p.m. every Tuesday.

Six and a half acres have been added to Township Park on Kirk Road and there is now access from the new area. The Colts and Falcons will be located there for practice. A grant has been received and the basketball courts have been redone.

A $5,000 donation was received anonymously for landscaping the front of Stacey Pavilion and the landscaper has donated time and material for the other side of the pavilion.

The “Awesome-town Fall Festival” is set for Oct. 9 and Brad Bloomster has invited all service groups to partake of the one-day event. Music, food, competitions and fun for the community is on the agenda for the event.

The Austintown park system includes 206 acres that include walking trails, tennis courts, basketball courts, pavilions for picnics and various recreational facilities.
