Motion for hearing
YOUNGSTOWN
A former part-time assistant Youngstown State University women’s softball coach remains free on $2,500 bond after pleading innocent to four counts of Oxycodone trafficking in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
Gina L. Rango, 26, of Woodworth Road, North Lima, was secretly indicted and arrested last week at her residence by the Mahoning Valley Drug Task Force. Saying she suffers from drug addiction and has no prior felony convictions, her lawyer, David J. Betras, filed a motion Thursday for a hearing to determine whether she’s eligible for treatment in lieu of conviction. Her trial is tentatively set for June 28 before Judge Lou A. D’Apolito.
House arrest
YOUNGSTOWN
A man who was convicted in the severe beating of an Austintown man in a Campbell residence in 2008 has been released from jail to electronically monitored house arrest.
In a Thursday judgment entry, Judge Lou A. D’Apolito released Joseph R. Perry Jr., 41, of Peters Drive, Campbell, due to the shortage of jail space, as a financial crisis is forcing the county to close half its jail. On April 9, Judge D’Apolito granted Perry work release from the jail to enable him to keep his job at General Motors in Lordstown. Perry was sentenced to five years’ probation in January, with the first year to be served in jail, after he pleaded no contest to felonious assault and aggravated burglary.
