The students of Lynn Kirk Elementary School were treated to a morning of fun as the Magic Carpet Theater group performed “The Day Miranda Met the Mermaid” in the school’s all-purpose room.

The Magic Carpet Theater is a youth outreach program associated with the Oakland Center for the Arts that performs in area schools throughout the year.

The storytelling trio entertained With a cast of three performers, using colorful costumes and backdrops. The production drew the students into the story of a young girl who has an unexpected encounter with a mermaid named Serena and her undersea friends. The girl learns important lessons about a world that is different from her own.
