Holy Family honors top students

Holy Family School honored students at the Principal’s Academic Awards Banquet Apr. 29.

Christine Kijowski, Holy Family principal, said students from sixth through eighth grade who earned a 3.7 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale during the 2009-2010 academic year are honored at the banquet.

Students in accelerated math classes are on a 5.0 scale.

“This is significant because the grading scale at HFS 93 to 100 percent is an A. The standards are higher and I am amazed at how many of our students earned this honor,” Kijowski said.

Joseph Kelty was the guest speaker. He is a 1981 graduate of Holy Family School, a 1985 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and a 1989 graduate of The University of Notre Dame.

The following eighth-grade students were honored: Jacob Aiello, Miah-Sophia Appugliese, Sheila Christopher, Mackenzie Compton, Melissa Eperjesi, John Patrick Higham, Devin Joss, Nafula Kato, Patrick Kelty, Cheyenne Marki, Henriette Ovaska, Kathryn Puhalla, Lisa Rehak, Christina Robb, Andrew Rossi, Taylor Sikich, McKenna Wininger and Andrew Wollet. Seventh-grade students honored were Michael Angiolelli, Carly Berlon, Katherine Boniface, John Brennan, Kayleigh Burk, Nicole Clark, Emily DeGenova, Madeline Evan, Micaela Kreuzwieser, Natalie Kunce, Ashley Labatte, Hannah Lavelle, Madeleine Leek, Mackenzie Metzinger, Alexis Ohlin, Cara Palusak, Olivia Proia, Gina Stephenson, Marisa Stephenson, Francesca Strollo, Taylor Tofil, Danielle Wainio, Mackenzie Wardle, Hallie Yerian and Alia Yossef.

Mario Abbattista, Kristen Appel, Nicholas Braydich, Allison Christopher, Giovanna DeSantis, Madeline Graziano, Matthew Holsinger, Joseph Kelty, Jon-Michael Koutsourais, Evan Leek, Olivia Morrison, Michael Myers, Kara Okular, Jenna Perchak, Emily Rella, Isabel Stoeber, Brianna Thompson, Kellie Walker and Gabrielle Williams were recognized from sixth grade.
