Students face misdemeanor charges in Ohio prank
CINCINNATI (AP) — Police in Ohio will charge 12 students with misdemeanors after their arrest for allegedly breaking into their high school as a prank.
Lockland police in suburban Cincinnati say they’ll follow the recommendation of Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters to charge the 18-year-old students with adult criminal trespassing.
Deters said today the students, who have been suspended, will be allowed to enter a diversion program requiring a guilty plea, probation and perform community service.
After police made the arrests the night of May 13, the students said they meant no harm and were pulling a prank.
Authorities said the students planned to move all the books out of the library and put objects around the building.
