Standoff ends in arrest of man wanted in Crawford County, Pa.

NEW CASTLE, PA.

A 51/2-hour standoff in West Pittsburg ended with the arrest of a man wanted in Crawford County.

Pennsylvania State Police in New Castle said they tried to serve a warrant at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at a house in West Pittsburg, a small town near New Castle in Lawrence County.

The suspect, Michael Ray Tackett, 39, did not surrender. State police called out their special emergency-response team. Tackett was taken into custody at 6 p.m., police said.

The charges from Crawford County include rape, sexual assault, terroristic threats and simple assault.

Charges from the standoff are pending. Other police departments called out included New Castle and Shenango and Neshannock townships.
