Lawrence County rape suspect arrested after 6-hour standoff


WEST PITTSBURG, Pa. (AP) — Police in Lawrence County say they took a rape suspect into custody after a six-hour standoff ended with officers storming the home.

Authorities say 39-year-old Michael Ray Tackett is in custody after being arrested Wednesday at his West Pittsburg home on a 2007 rape charge.

Police say they tried to serve a warrant around noon Tackett but refused to the leave the house. Troopers evacuated neighbors before forcing their way into the home around 6 p.m. No injuries were reported.

Tackett was held Wednesday night on $500,000 bail at Lawrence County Jail and will be arraigned in Crawford County.

It was not clear if Tackett had an attorney.
