Members of a congressional subcommittee will come to the Mahoning Valley sometime this summer to discuss what can be done for some Delphi retirees who’ve lost their pensions and health coverage.

The date and location of the hearing of the U.S. House Financial Services’ oversight and investigations subcommittee haven’t been determined, but an announcement is coming soon, according to U.S. Rep. Charlie Wilson, D-6th, of St. Clairsville.

Dog bites boy, 5

YOUNGSTOWN

Police said the Mahoning County Dog Warden is investigating the case of a 5-year-old Bancroft Avenue boy bitten on the back of his neck and above his left ear by a large dog that broke away from its owner.

Police said the boy was playing with a friend in a neighbor’s front yard around 5:40 p.m. Saturday when the owner of the dog, a Lynn Avenue man, walked past with his 110-pound Cane Corso on a leash.

Witnesses said the children began screaming, apparently because they were afraid of the dog, and the animal became agitated, broke loose and attacked one of the children. The victim was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center.
