WARREN

One Health Ohio and the McCoy Family are offering a “Celebration of Life Ceremony” at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the dedication of One Health Ohio’s new Lloyd McCoy Health Center at 1977 Niles Road S.E.

The new medical/dental center, which is One Health Ohio’s four health facility, is named in honor of Lloyd McCoy. Lloyd was about a month shy of his 12th birthday when he died April 21, 2009, the victim of retaliatory gunfire April 13 at his sister’s home on Wick Street S.E.

There will be a public open house from 1 to 3 p.m. at the new facility, which has nine medical exam rooms and seven dental operatories.

Fundraiser set

YOUNGSTOWN

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 343 Via Mt. Carmel, is having a spaghetti dinner and bake sale fundraiser Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to benefit the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley.

Adult dinners are $6 and include meatballs, salad, rolls, cake and coffee. Children’s dinners are $4.

Carry-out is available.

Immunization clinic

GIRARD

A well-child immunization clinic is offered Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Girard Health Department, 100 W. Main St., in the City Building.

A $5 fee will be charged per child.

Parents are reminded to bring a copy of the child’s immunization record.

A parent or guardian must accompany children under 18.

Parents must pre-register children prior to the clinic by calling 330-545-6048 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Alzheimer’s Assoc. plans symposium

HARTVILLE

The Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter’s annual Beverly A. Chiron Symposium for professionals and family caregivers is June 8 at Hartville Kitchen Restaurant.

Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. and the symposium will run from 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

For continuing education, the cost is $99 per person before June 1 and $109 thereafter.

For direct-care staff, family caregivers, students and clergy, the cost is $35.

Health event

YOUNGSTOWN

The Step in the Name of Love Community Health and Line Dance event is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Williamson Elementary School, 58 Williamson St.

The event, free and open to the public, features guest speakers, health screenings, nutrition tips and snacks, line dancing and a minihealth fair.

Confidential health screenings and free information, along with complimentary massages and facials, will be available.

The event is sponsored by the Youngstown-Warren Black Nurses Association, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, Youngstown Public Schools and All State Insurance.
