Vehicular-death lawsuit filed against Youngstown man

YOUNGSTOWN — A man who was sentenced to four years in prison in February 2009 after pleading guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide has been sued by representatives of the estate of his deceased passenger.

The civil lawsuit was filed by the estate of Amir Fareed of Youngstown against Humes A. Gregory Jr., 50, of East Lucius Avenue, who drew the prison time from Judge James C. Evans of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court; the car owner, Shannon Petrosky, also of East Lucius Avenue; and Viking Insurance Co. of Richmond, Va.

Neither Gregory nor Petrosky could be reached for comment.

The suit says Gregory negligently caused Fareed’s death at age 43 in a May 15, 2008, collision with a cement truck on Glenwood Avenue near Midlothian Boulevard.
