St. Patrick Church will celebrate its 99th anniversary by providing free coffee and doughnuts to motorists from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Monday on the premises of Community Corrections Association, 1507 Market St.
Helping to greet drivers during the first hour will be Mayor Jay Williams, and Bishop George V. Murry will be there during the second hour.
The Rev. Edward P. Noga, pastor, said, “St. Patrick Church is a welcoming sign of permanence amidst a neighborhood of change, striving to provide love, trust, and support to all.” The multicultural parish is often referred to as “a beacon of hope in the heart of the city.”
In 1911, the Cleveland Diocese that included Youngstown, recognized the need to establish a church on the city’s South side. St. Patrick was founded May 24, 1911.
