Police investigating shooting at East Side home

YOUNGSTOWN — Police said a 36-year-old McGuffey Road woman was struck by wooden debris when a bullet was fired into her home shortly before 12 a.m. today.

The victim told police she was in bed when she heard numerous gunshots outside her East Side house in the 1500 block of McGuffey.

Officers found six bullet holes on the side of the house and two more in the front porch. Three bullets actually entered the bedroom where the woman was, one of them passing through a wooden dresser sitting against the wall.

Some of the wood shrapnel from the dresser struck the victim on the elbow, police said. She didn’t require medical treatment.
