TORONTO
Edwin Encarnacion came off the disabled list and hit one of Toronto’s four home runs, and the Blue Jays backed Shaun Marcum in a romp over the Minnesota Twins. Vernon Wells, Aaron Hill and Lyle Overbay also connected. The Blue Jays lead the majors with 65 home runs this season. Marcum (3-1) won his third straight decision, allowing one run and five hits in seven innings. Carl Pavano (4-4) was pounded for six runs and 10 hits in four innings.
White Sox 6, Tigers 2
DETROIT
Juan Pierre’s two-run double and run-saving catch in the fourth inning helped the Chicago White Sox beat the Detroit Tigers. Freddy Garcia (3-2) gave up two runs over six innings, going five starts without a loss for the first time since the end of the 2006 season.
Orioles 4, Royals 3, 10 innings
BALTIMORE
Nick Markakis singled in the winning run in the 10th inning, giving the Orioles a split of the two-game series. Luke Scott hit two solo home runs and Corey Patterson also connected for the Orioles, who snapped a three-game losing streak. Baltimore trailed 3-0 in the fifth inning and 3-2 in the eighth.
Rangers 8, Angels 7
ARLINGTON, Texas
Michael Young had three hits and drove in three runs, including the tiebreaking RBI single for the Rangers in a victory that gave the AL West leaders a sweep of the two-game set.

Marlins 8, Diamondbacks 0
MIAMI
Brian Barden drove in two runs while replacing benched star Hanley Ramirez, helping ace Josh Johnson and the Marlins. Ramirez, a two-time All-Star shortstop and the reigning NL batting champion, sat a day after being pulled by manager Fredi Gonzalez for failing to hustle.

CINCINNATI
Scott Rolen hit a tying, two-run homer in the ninth inning off fading closer Trevor Hoffman and Joey Votto delivered an RBI single off the wall, rallying the Reds.
Braves 3, Mets 2
ATLANTA
Pinch-runner Brent Clevlen trotted home with the winning run on a throwing error by third baseman David Wright in the ninth inning. Brian McCann opened the bottom of the ninth with a single to right off Pedro Feliciano (1-2), the Braves’ first baserunner since the third inning.

ST. LOUIS
Ryan Ludwick homered to snap an eighth-inning tie and reward a resourceful performance by Chris Carpenter for the Cardinals’ victory.
Cubs 6, Rockies 2
CHICAGO
Carlos Silva pitched six strong innings to remain unbeaten and the Cubs overcame Todd Helton’s first home run of the season.
