FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


WEDNESDAY

Lockwood United Methodist Church, 4570 Lockwood Blvd., Boardman, will have a free community dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Meals will include beef tips and noodles, green beans, applesauce, dessert and beverage. Everyone is welcome.

THURSDAY

St. Michael Orthodox Church, 125 Steel St., Youngstown, will serve a homemade Chinese dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Thursday. This week’s meal will feature Shanghai spare ribs. Cost is $5. To order in advance call 330-799-8133 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. that day.

FRIDAY

Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Orders may be picked up from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $5 a dozen. Orders should be placed from 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-746-9528 and are to be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Advance sales only. Lunches will be available beginning at 11 a.m. Friday.

National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon, 2759 N. Lipkey Road, North Jackson, will be selling Brier Hill-style pizza. A 12-inch pizza will be $8. Orders may be called in before 5 p.m., and pickup will be from 3 to 6 p.m. For more information or to order, call 330-538-3351.

Poland Masonic Lodge 766 will have a takeout fish fry from 3 p.m. until sold out the every third Friday. Meals include coleslaw, a choice of macaroni and cheese or jojo fries, a roll and a brownie. The cost is $9.

St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will sell potato and cheese pirogi. To order call 330-799-0084 after 6 p.m. Thursday or after 8 a.m. Friday. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Cost is $5 per bag of one dozen (no containers necessary). Walk-ins are welcome. Patrons are asked to use the side entrance.

St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell potato, prune and kraut pirogi. Cost is $4.50 a dozen. Frozen prune and kraut will be sold while supplies last. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at 330-755-1316, and orders can be picked up beginning at noon. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers. No walk-in orders will be available. The final sale of the season will be May 28.

St. Michael Family Life Center, 340 N. Broad St., Canfield, will have a fish fry from 4 to 8 p.m. Meals will include fried or baked fish or fried shrimp, choice of haluski, pirogi or french fries, and coleslaw, bread and dessert. St. Paul the Apostle Church, Main Street, New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. This will be the final sale of the season.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi Friday. The cost is $5 a dozen. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 Friday, based upon availability. Lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers and use the side entrance.

SATURDAY

Addis Advocates Team will serve pancake and sausage breakfasts from 8 a.m. to noon at Wedgewood Park Evangelical Congregational Church, South Meridian Road, Austintown, to benefit Down Syndrome Association of the Valley. The cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children 4 to 12,and free for those 3 and under. There also will be a quilt and basket raffle. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. First Christian Church, 140 E. Broadway, Girard, will serve pasta dinners from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Meals include meatballs, salad, bread, dessert and beverage. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Carryouts will be available. There will a concert of Big Band music during Swingtime from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Heritage Presbyterian Church, 1951 Mathews Road, Poland, will have a Swiss steak dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Meals are $9 for adults and $4 for children under 12. For more information call 330-707-9031.

The Odd Fellows Hall, 111 S. Broad St., Canfield, will be the setting from 2 to 6 p.m. for a spaghetti dinner to benefit Patrick Johns, a 44-year-old Canfield native diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 6 to 12. Those 5 and under eat free.

SUNDAY

King Solomon Lodge 87 will sponsor a ribs and chicken dinner from noon to 5 p.m. at Packard Park Shelter House, Mahoning Avenue N.W., Warren. Meals include three of the following sides per order: cabbage, greens, coleslaw, black-eyed peas and rice, potato salad and macaroni and cheese; and bread, cornbread and cake. New Hope United Methodist Church, 21 Fairview Ave., Niles, will have a spaghetti dinner from 12:30 to 5 p.m. as a benefit for Alyssa Malachin, a 16-year-old fighting cancer. Meals include salad, beverage and dessert. The cost is $7 for adults, $3.50 for children 6 to 12 and free for those 5 and under.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 343 Via Mount Carmel, Youngstown, will have a spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. as a fundraiser for the United Way of Youngstown and Mahoning Valley. Ursuline Boys Soccer Team will host an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at Lucianno’s Banquet Center, 1739 Raccoon Road, Austintown. The cost is $8. Meals include meatballs, salad, bread, dessert, pop and coffee. Takeouts will be available, and there will be a Chinese auction at 4:15 and a 50-50 raffle. TAKING ORDERS

Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Center, 1025 N. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown, is taking orders for strudel to be picked up from 10 a.m. to noon May 29. Large apple or cherry strudel are $8 each, and cherry with cheese are $9. Orders will be accepted until May 27 at 330-792-6699 or 330-799-7911.
