The ROCcK Children’s Choir and Ursuline High School Choir will perform at Salvatore’s Restaurant, 4831 Mahoning Ave., at 6:30 p.m. Thursday to raise money for the ROCcK choir to visit Speediatriacs Children’s Hospital and Camp Riley, a camp in Indiana for seriously ill children, July 12-13.

Salvatore’s is donating 15 percent of customer receipts Thursday when customers present a coupon. Coupons, which also can be used for carry-out orders, can be obtained from awaywithwordsfoundation.org website, at the restaurant, or from Awww- Mazing Place stores in Eastwood and Southern Park malls.

The ROCcK choir needs to raise $2,500.

Health fair

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will host a “Step in the Name of Love” health fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Williamson Elementary School, 58 Williamson St.

The free adult event will include line dancing, health screenings, guest speakers and nutritional tips.

Prizes will be awarded, and free food will be available.

Grant awarded

GREEN

Green Township Volunteer Fire Department in Mahoning County has received a $106,267 grant in Department of Homeland Security funds for fiscal year 2009.

Chief Todd Baird said the department bought 40 breathing tanks. He said the department added money to meet the total cost of $111,840.

The department also bought a Pak-Tracker locator system that can help firefighters outside a burning building locate firefighters inside the structure.

Builders workshop

CORTLAND

The Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District will host a workshop on erosion and sediment control for Trumbull County developers and contractors from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Trumbull County Agriculture and Family Education Center, 520 W. Main St.

Topics to be covered include erosion and sediment control regulations, site-specific inspections and presentations and issues with wetlands and bio-retention installation.
