Politicians tout President Obama’s visit to the Valley

President Barack Obama’s Tuesday trip to V&M Star in Youngstown highlights the importance of the federal stimulus package in a $650 million expansion there, U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan said today.

Without the $19 million from the federal package, the V&M “project would have never ever happened,” said Ryan of Niles, D-17th.

The expansion will create 400 construction jobs. When the plant opens, there will be 230 employees working directly for V&M and 120 contract workers at the new facility.

Jared Bernstein, chief economist to the vice president, said Obama on Tuesday “will connect the dots” between the stimulus package investments and what it means for businesses, such as V&M.
