Mr., Mrs. Smaltz mark anniversary at a Florida condo

YOUNGSTOWN

Mr. and Mrs. Donald J. Smaltz of Youngstown began the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary during a two-month stay at the Lighthouse Bay Condominium in Bonita Springs, Fla.

The extended celebration will include a dinner with their family at Caffe Capri in Boardman.

Hosts for the dinner will be their children and their spouses, Donald and Christina Smaltz of Ashburn, Va.; Cindy and A.J. Shields of Poland; and Mark and Kathy Smaltz of Nokesville, Va. There are 15 grandchildren in the family.

The former Janice M. Verdinek and Mr. Smaltz were married June 11, 1960, in Our Lady of Hungary Church on Belle Vista Avenue. They are members of St. Christine Church.

Mr. Smaltz served with the Air Force from 1953 -57 and retired in 1988 as a teacher and coach from Poland schools. He is a member of Youngstown Road Runners and Curbstone Coaches.

Mrs. Smaltz retired in 1999 from Wean Industries, where she was employed in the office.
