Ace bowler takes exception to column

Fanfare:

I am an avid bowler, pretty well know on the local, state and national levels. I am very disappointed that John Bassetti would write and that The Vindicator would publish such an article [“Bye-bye bowling: No more pain from the lane,” May 9, 2010].

If it is so painful to write about bowling scores, bowlers or the sport itself, then get someone else to do it. I am not sure if Mr. Bassetti realizes how many people, family members, friends and fans of the sport purchase The Vindicator every Sunday just to see the bowling section.

The most offensive part of the article to me was where Mr. Bassetti writes:

“There’s little defense for an argument that throwing a ball on a hard surface and successfully knocking down 10 obstacles 63 feet away constitutes a sport.”
