A Mahoning County grand jury has indicted a South Side man on charges of attempted murder and felonious assault in an April 14 shooting in Boardman.
Indicted was Casimiro A. Ellis, 29, of East Avondale Avenue, who is charged with shooting Alynn Grant, 31, at Grant’s Mill Creek Boulevard residence.
Ellis also was indicted on firearm and repeat-violent-offender specifications and being a felon in illegal possession of a gun.
Ellis was in a relationship with Grant’s ex-girlfriend, who also lived at the Boardman residence, police said. Grant was shot once in the leg and twice in the back as he arrived home. Ellis was arrested April 22 in Warren and jailed under $1 million bond.
The repeat violent offender specifications pertain to Ellis’ conviction for voluntary manslaughter in the September 1999 fatal shooting of 19-year-old Karl Green in a South Side bar parking lot, for which Ellis was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
