Weather authorities say no tornado in Warren, Trumbull County
WARREN — Though officials are not calling the winds that blew through the northeast area of Warren early today a tornado, it sure felt like one to one Northbury Colony apartment resident.
“There’s no way this was anything but a tornado with all this damage,” said Amanda Briggs, who lives in a third floor apartment. “It felt and sounded like a tornado.”
The siding and particle board in the top portion of Briggs’ apartment building and several others nearby were ripped off at about 4:45 a.m. in the midst of a storm that included thunder, lightning and high winds.
“I could feel the whole building shaking,” Briggs said of the storm, which knocked down scores of trees within a couple miles to the east and west of the apartment complex.
The Ohio Weather Service said it had no reports of tornadoes in Trumbull County, just severe thunderstorms.
