Postal service honors carriers’ safe driving

Mike Rynzer’s ability to deliver residents’ mail safe and sound for 32 years is no accident.

The post office veteran was recently honored for driving his millionth mile without a vehicle accident. He received a Million Mile plaque from the National Safety Council on Monday.

The plaque is awarded to those who have driven a million miles without being involved in an accident or driven for 30 years without any accidents.

Rynzer began working as a mail carrier right after high school in 1978 and has been working toward the Million Mile award ever since.

“I’m happy to finally be a part of the club,” Rynzer said.

In addition to honoring Rynzer, the USPS recognized other safe drivers from the Canfield branch through its Postal Service Awards Program.

Mail carriers in Canfield were presented with Expert Driver certificates from the National Safety Council, congratulating them on their flawless driving records. Recipients ranged from 12 to 27-year veterans at the postal service.
