May 1

Theft: A gas grill and other items were removed from a porch in the 500 block of Garden Ridge Drive.

Criminal damaging: Someone used a key to cause $1,000 in damage to a vehicle’s finish at the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A $110 reclining chair was stolen from a Green Garden Drive home.

Theft: Police charged a 17-year-old New Castle, Pa., girl with stealing $154 worth of jewelry from Spencer Gifts in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: Police charged three Austintown girls, 12, 14 and 15, with the theft of jewelry, purses and earrings from Spencer Gifts.

Theft: A firearm and related accessories were stolen from a residence in the 90 block of Arlene Avenue.

Theft: A Boardman girl, 13, was charged and released to the custody of her mother after being accused of taking two neckties from Spencer Gifts.

Robbery: An employee with Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road, who tried to detain three people after a theft told police one punched the accuser 10 to 15 times and scratched her.

May 2

Criminal damaging: An electronic scoreboard controller was damaged and two vending machines were tipped over at a field off McClurg Road.

Theft: Two women fled in a vehicle after stealing $150 worth of merchandise from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: A $300 basketball hoop and post were taken from a residence in the 400 block of Green Garden Drive.

Theft: Someone removed a global-positioning system unit and a radar detector from a car in the 7300 block of West Boulevard.

Arrest: Authorities charged 32-year-old Erika L. Scroggins, 1720 Jacobs Road, Youngstown, with assault on a police officer, a fourth- degree felony, after saying she struggled with authorities while being booked on another charge, causing one officer to sustain a cut and scratch.

Criminal damaging: A driver’s-side car window was smashed in the 4200 block of Chester Drive.

Domestic violence: Galion A. Wall, 30, of Youngstown was charged after a family member alleged Wall slammed her against two vehicles during an argument at a Doral Drive business.

Attempted auto theft: Someone tried to steal a 1996 Geo Prism parked in the 100 block of Lemans Drive.

Theft: Four sandstone landscaping rocks were taken from an apartment complex in the 4300 block of Devonshire Drive.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 4400 block of Market Street sustained a broken driver’s-side window.

Theft: A laptop computer was among property stolen from a car in the 7300 block of West Boulevard.

May 3

Drugs: Officers investigating a traffic violation on state Route 7 charged 53-year-old Miguel S. Gibbs, 7320 Market St., Boardman, with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, a felony and misdemeanor, respectively. Gibbs, who also was wanted on a probation-violation charge, had a small bag of suspected crack cocaine, a report said.

Burglary: To a home in the 4800 block of Grover Drive through a rear door. Stolen was a Sony PlayStation3 system and accessories.

Misuse of a credit card: An Erskine Avenue woman’s stolen debit card was used without consent at several township businesses.

Drugs: Joseph L. Batovsky, 850 Meridian Road, Youngstown, was cited near U.S. Route 224 when, police said, suspected marijuana debris was found.

Theft: Two pairs of men’s tennis shoes and a pair of men’s shorts were stolen from Gabriel Bros.

Menacing: A Squirrel Hill Drive woman reported a caller threatened her life.

Recovered property: Officers found in the 4000 block of Glenwood Avenue a 1999 GMC truck that had been stolen in Youngstown.

Criminal damaging: A small projectile was shot, causing an estimated $250 in damage to a car window in the 4200 block of Market Street.

Theft: Authorities booked 39-year-old Amy McSweeney, 7488 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, after saying she admitted having stolen cleaning supplies from Dollar General, 5953 South Ave. She was released on a summons.

May 4

Domestic violence: Rodney Aey, 44, of 7479 Oregon Trail, Boardman, faced two counts of menacing and one each of domestic violence and resisting arrest, then taken to the Mahoning County jail after a family member said he had made a threatening gesture to simulate shooting her during a dispute regarding visitation privileges. Police said Aey briefly struggled with them, and his bond was set at $5,250.

Theft: Police charged Matthew A. Pflugh, 27, of 2405 Youngstown Road S.E., Warren, and William D. Rulick, same address and age, with the theft of 10 articles of clothing from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: Christina Mede, 19, of 1514 Lynn Ave., Youngstown, was charged and released on a summons after items were stolen from Walmart.

Theft: An elderly woman discovered $131 missing from her Allen Drive apartment.

Assault: Daniel R. Arroyo, 47, of 965 Bonnie Brae Drive, Youngstown, was taken into custody at a Market Street motel after his girlfriend told police he had assaulted her. The accuser had cuts on her face and was bleeding heavily, for which she was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center Boardman Campus, authorities said.

Theft: Police charged John S. Probst IV, 26, of 33 Clifton Drive, Boardman, with the theft of a $108 camera from Sam’s Club, 6361 South Ave.

Theft: Police charged Leon Reynolds, 36, of 4884 Westchester Drive, Austintown, with the theft of three pairs of sunglasses and a bottle of cologne from T.J. Maxx & More, 717 Boardman-Poland Road. Reynolds also was wanted on a warrant charging him with theft.

Bad check: A $3,200 business check later determined to have been stolen was cashed at Midwest Money Center Inc., 5021 Market St.

Misuse of a credit card: A township woman discovered $1,800 worth of fraudulent withdrawals had been made to her debit/checking account.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s passenger-side window was smashed in the 5200 block of Old Oxford Lane.
