I-80 lane restrictions

HUBBARD

Beginning today at 6 p.m., the eastbound lane of Interstate 80 will have various restrictions for bridge work at three bridges: over Mount Everett Road, over Yankee Creek and over U.S. Route 62.

These restrictions are expected to last for about two weeks, according to a news release from the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The work is the beginning of a $7 million project to resurface I-80 from east of Bell Wick Road to the Pennsylvania line as well as the adjacent rest area. The project also includes minor bridge work at various locations along I-80. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by late August.

Police arrested a woman and charged her with two counts of theft by deception involving an elderly man who was brutally beaten in his apartment. Edward Macejko, 86, was beaten for hours early May 6. Police have not made an arrest in the beating. Their investigation is continuing.

Justine Hennon, 41, of Fifth Street, a neighbor of Macejko’s, was “hitting him up” for money, said Police Chief Bob Norris. Hennon appeared in Struthers Municipal Court Wednesday. She was given a $50,000 bond and remained in the Mahoning County jail Thursday.

Macejko, who suffered a heart attack during the beating, remains in St. Elizabeth Health Center. During the May 6 attack, he was robbed of medication, credit cards and cash, police said.
