A seven-session beginning yoga class for adults is offered from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. on Mondays, May 17 through July 5, at St. Joseph Health Center, 667 Eastland Ave. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat or blanket and a small pillow to each class. Helping parents with children’s education

State Support Team Region 5 of Ohio’s Educational Regional Service System is offering a session for parents on how to become an effective member of their child’s educational team. The event is Saturday in Eastwood Mall, 5555 Youngstown-Warren Road (U.S. Route 422), at the entrance near Dillard’s. Registration is at 9 a.m. The workshop is 9:30 a.m. to noon. Volunteer class

The Visiting Nurse Association, 518 E. Indianola Ave., is offering a health clinic from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday. Free health screenings include blood pressure, weight, blood sugar, general physical and mental health, and medications reviews. Informational items and refreshments will be available. Cancer awareness

The third-annual 2.5-mile Oral Cancer Awareness Walk, “A Cure: One Step at a Time,” is May 22 at Buhl Park. All funds raised are donated to the Oral Cancer Foundation, said Dr. Dale Spadafora, founder of the walk.

Check-in is a 10 a.m. at Shelter No. 4, with the event beginning at 11 a.m. People can walk and raise money individually or as part of a team. There is a $25 minimum requirement per person to register.

Suicide awareness

The third-annual Survivors of Suicide Awareness Walk is Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Trumbull County Courthouse Square. The walk is in memory of loved ones who died by suicide.

Families, friends and the public are invited to attend and are urged to bring photos or signs to highlight the loss of their loved ones to suicide. The event is sponsored by Loving Outreach to Survivors of Suicide (LOSS); Help Hotline Crisis Center Inc.; and Survivors of Suicide (SOS) of Mahoning and Columbiana Counties.
