Newton Falls sweeps AAC

Newton Falls and Girard finished 1-2 in both the boys and girls segments of the All-American Athletic Conference Blue Tier track meet Wednesday.
The Newton Falls boys team had 130 points to Girard’s 121, followed by LaBrae and Campbell Memorial with 76 apiece.
Newton Falls’ girls outscored Girard 138 to 911/2, and LaBrae was third (76).
Campbell’s Nathaniel Dawson and Girard’s Ryan DelBene both won two events in record times.
Dawson won the 100 in 11.0 and the 200 in 22.7, while DelBene captured the 1600 in 4:55.6 and the 3200 in 10:51.6.
Dawson was also on the Red Devils’ winning 4x200 relay.
DelBene was a member of the Indians’ winning 4x800 relay.
LaBrae had a double winner in Steve Woodyard, who tossed the shot put 52-4 and threw the discus a meet-record 163-1.
Newton Falls’ Destiny Prusky won three events.
Prusky won the 100 hurdles in 15.1 and the 300 hurdles in 47.9. Both were record times. She also won the high jump.
LaBrae’s Allorian Horne won the 100 in a record 12.3 and the 200 in 26.1.
Brookfield’s Rachael Swogger won the 1600 in 5:53.2 and the 3200 in 12:52.9.
ITCL Tier Two
BERLIN CENTER
The McDonald boys and girls track team swept the Inter Tri-County League Tier Two championships.
McDonald won the boys title with 130 points, followed by Lowellville (86) and Jackson-Milton (82).
In the girls meet, McDonald won with 160 points, while Lowellville (133) finished second and Western Reserve (69) was third.
The top athlete was Lowellville’s Monica Ciarniello, who won the 800, 1600 and 3200, and was a member of the Rockets’ winning 4x800 relay.
Mollie Golden of McDonald won two individual events, the 100 hurdles and the long jump, and was on two winning relays.
Also, Jocelyn Fluharty of Southern won two individual events, the 100 and 200.
Boys multiple winners were McDonald’s Matthias Tayala (discus and shot put), and Zach Tura (100 and 400); Bryan Brinker of Southern (200 and long jump) and David Duncan of Western Reserve (110 and 300 hurdles).
NORTHEASTERN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
ORWELL
Jordan Moxley won four events to lead Maplewood’s girls to the team championship with 144 points.
Moxley won the 100 and 300 hurdles, the 200 and the high jump.
Lordstown was second with 122 points and Pymatuning Valley was third with 84.
Erin Pavick of Maplewood was a double winner, taking the 800 and 1600. She was also on the Rockets’ winning 4x800 relay.
Maplewood also won the boys championship with 122 points. Lordstown (117) and Py Valley (81) followed.
Three athletes won two individual events. Eric Rupe of Maplewood won the 800 and 1600, and he was on the Rockets’ 4x400 relay that finished first.
James Theofilos of Lordstown won the 100 and 200, and Lordstown’s Mark Bahrey claimed the shot put and discus.
