Girard ousts LaBrae in Div. 3

GIRARD
The Girard High softball team won its Division III sectional final 10-6 over LaBrae on Wednesday.
The Indians had 13 hits and junior Lisa Holmes (16-7) gave up six hits.
Sophomore Brianna Jay had a double and three singles and three RBIs, freshman Kiley Kulon had a double and a single and walked twice, Nikki Hollanbaugh had a double and two singles and two RBIs and sophomore Nikki Mazzella had a double and single and two RBIs for Girard (18-9).
Also for the Indians, senior Melissa Weitzman had two RBIs. Girard will play either Lisbon or South Range on Monday.
Lindsey Moon had a double and single and three RBIs and Jessica Buck doubled for LaBrae (13-12).

CHAMPION
Senior Morgan White pitched a perfect game and a balanced attack carried the top-seeded Golden Flashes (23-0) into the Jefferson district.
White (10-0) struck out eight in her perfect game. She also threw a perfect game as a sophomore.
Taylor Petersal homered, Lindsay Swipas tripled and Haley McAllister and Darian Rogers doubled in an 11-hit attack.
Monday Champion will face the Pymatuning Valley-Berkshire survivor in Jefferson at 4:30 p.m.
Mooney 10, East Palestine 5
BOARDMAN
Vickie Farris drove in three runs with a triple and double and Jamie Clausen had two home runs and three RBIs for second-seeded Mooney, which rallied from a 3-0 deficit at Field of Dreams.
Cadi Sheffler (7-2) had an eight-strikeout six-hitter for the Cardinals, who notched their 11th sectional title and seventh in the last eight years.
Margo Ucchino and Simone Zeoli had two hits, Chrissy Porter doubled and Shayla DeCapita had a clutch RBI.
Mooney (22-5) has tied the school record for wins set by the 2006 team. The Cardinals advance to the district semifinals on Monday at Lisbon.
Pence knocked in two runs via two hits including a home run for No. 3 East Palestine.
DIVISION IV
Jackson-Milton 10, Youngstown Christian 0
NORTH JACKSON
Caitlyn Carney homered twice and drove in six runs for Jackson-Milton (16-8), the third seed.
Maddie Griffiths doubled and Lindsey Knipp (14-7) struck out 14 in her one-hit effort.
Today Jackson-Milton will play at Lordstown at 4:30 p.m.
