Youngstown State senior golfer Ryan Stocke has been selected to participate in the Notre Dame Regional at the 2010 NCAA men’s golf championships.

The regional is May 20-22 at the Warren Golf Course in Notre Dame, Ind.

Stocke, from Elida, earned an automatic individual spot by winning the Horizon League championship earlier this month. He’ll face some strong competition as the first YSU men’s golfer to participate in an NCAA Division I postseason event.

The teams in Stocke’s regional are Stanford (region top seed and ranked No. 2 in the nation), Florida (No. 6 in nation), Florida State (No. 10), Duke, LSU, North Carolina State, Iowa, Michigan, Northwestern, Indiana, Virginia Tech, Murray State (OVC qualifier), Detroit (Horizon League qualifier) and Saint Francis (Pa.) (Northeast qualifier).

Besides Stocke, there are four other individuals who will compete, three from the Big Ten and one from Iona.

The format features 18 holes each day at the Warren Golf Course, a par-70, 7,020-yard course. The course features two par fives, four par threes and 12 par fours.
