Shuffle on South Avenue to benefit Special Olympics

YOUNGSTOWN

The ninth annual South Avenue Shuffle has been scheduled for Saturday as a benefit for the Mahoning County DD Special Olympics. The event is basically a poker run on foot.

The cost to enter is $20 and entitles the participant to a T-shirt, two coupons and a food buffet at all 10 of the participating taverns.

An envelope will be chosen at each tavern, and the card inside will be used to form a poker hand. The tavern with the best poker hand will have the opportunity to choose the charity for next year’s event.

Participating taverns are The Evergreens, VFW, East Side Civics, Teenies Tavern, Mike O’Malley’s Irish Bar, The Pastime, Coconut Grove, Piggy’s Club, Dragon Palace and Irish Bob’s.

Donations can be made payable to the Mahoning County DD Special Olympics and mailed to 39 E. Howard St., Girard, OH 44420. For more information, contact Lori Greenwait, (330) 788-7980 or (330) 727-8278; or Sue Cappitte, (330) 788-1683.
