Historical Society program Thursday features main library's 100th year

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Historical Society will conduct a program at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the main public library, 305 Wick Ave., in observance of the centennial of the main library building, which was dedicated Dec. 3, 1910.

The building was designed by prominent architects Owsley and Boucherle; and steel industrialist Andrew Carnegie donated $50,000 toward its $150,000 construction cost.

Library Director Carlton Sears, Historical Society Director H. William Lawson and architect Frank Rulli will conduct the program covering the history and architecture of the building, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
