A 60-year-old Browns Court, Girard, man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 4-year-old boy in Todd Park in Girard and raping a 7-year-old girl in Brookfield Park in Brookfield within four days in June 2009.

Paul E. Tomczak was first sentenced Monday to one year in prison by Judge Peter Kontos of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on a charge of gross sexual imposition involving the boy at Todd Park.

On Tuesday, Tomczak pleaded guilty to two counts of rape involving the girl in Brookfield, and Judge Andrew Logan gave him a 10-year prison sentence to be served at the same time as the one-year sentence for a total of 10 years in prison.

The Girard assault occurred June 21, 2009, and the Brookfield rapes occurred June 24, 2009, court records say.

The girl’s grandmother first reported the assaults on the girl June 25.

The parents of the boy reported that child’s assault while Tomczak was already in the Trumbull County Jail regarding the rapes.
