The Carnival cruise ship Valor was the setting May 1 for the wedding of Melissa Figueroa and Matthew McCarty, both of Reynoldsburg.

The couple exchanged nuptial vows during a 1 p.m. ceremony in the presence of friends and relatives.

After the ceremony, they left on a seven-day Western Caribbean cruise.

Parents of the bride are Rosa and Felix Figueroa of Youngstown, and the groom’s parents are Kathy and David A. McCarty of Zanesville.

The bride graduated from Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree and is a respiratory therapist at Regency Manor Rehabilitation in Columbus.

The groom, a licensed practical nurse at Regency Manor Rehabilitation, attended Ohio University Zanesville and received his LPN degree from the Mid-East Adult Career Center in Zanesville.
