Keep both hands on wheel always

Keep both hands on wheel always

It was no surprise to read that Ohio was not one of the states to enforce the no-drive rule while talking on a cell phone.

It is getting out of control within Mahoning and Trumbull counties with individuals conversing on the cell phone while driving and creating dangerous conditions.

Why do we need a law for this type of driving — while talking on a cell phone — to be a violation? There are enough laws on the books that the police only need to cite a driver with the No. 1 basic rule of driving: Both hands must be on the wheel at all times. Just follow that basic rule. It is a no-brainer violation for one hand to be holding a cell phone. Your mind will not be totally on the driving.

Shameful parking ‘scam’

It is sad that the people of Youngstown had to stand in line or somehow get our bosses to allow us to leave our desks to try to get a ticket to the Elton John concert — only to hit re- dial over and over again.

Then, the lucky few of us to score a ticket got scammed by whoever decided that instead of the usual $10 for parking, “we can get these desperate fools to pay $20. What choice do they have?”

Shame, shame, shame on whoever made this decision! This is how we get paid back for supporting the Covelli Centre.

‘Proud evening’ for Youngstown

I would like to thank my son Ryan for the best Mother’s Day gift I could have received this year: tickets to the Elton John concert.

My compliments to Mr. Eric Ryan, his staff and crew, and everyone affiliated with the concert May 1 at the Covelli Center. What an excellent job; thanks for bringing such a big-name concert to Youngstown.

I had to keep reminding myself that I didn’t have to drive an hour to get home. It was a proud evening for Youngstown.
