Fire caused about $40,000 damage to a Westmont Drive home. No cause has been determined for the blaze that broke out about 9 p.m. Sunday at 4219 Westmont, but it doesn’t appear suspicious, said Andrew Frost III, assistant fire chief. No one was injured.
Purse stolen

A 60-year-old Canfield woman told police a man knocked her down at a South Avenue discount store and stole her purse. The woman said she was grabbed from behind about 11:30 a.m. Monday outside Dollar General as she was getting out of her car. She fell, and the man took her purse and ran away. The woman declined medical treatment at the scene.

The Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services in collaboration with the Warren Urban Minority Alcohol and Drug Abuse Outreach Program will host an Ohio Violence Prevention Process Training and Workshop from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. May 19 through 21.
Daily registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
The workshop will be at the Comfort Inn, downtown Warren. Cost is $25 and includes materials and refreshments daily and lunch the first day.
Participants will receive 18.5 board-recognized clock hours for attendance all three days. Seating is limited. Please call (330) 393-3044 by Friday to register or for additional information.
