Comedy show at the Oakland

YOUNGSTOWN

Maylarious, a comedy show, will be at 8 p.m. Friday at the Oakland Center for the Arts, 220 W. Boardman St., downtown. Admission is $10. The show, which will benefit the Oakland, will feature comedy sketches and stand-up comedians, including the Reverse Cowboy comedy troupe (Dave Biscella, Jim Cibella, Matt Liller and Ric Panning); comedian-musician Murad Shorrab as emcee; and stand-up comics Biscella, Cibella, Liller, Erik Cribley, Jason Howell, Jason Delfosse and Shane Herman. Comedians Lamont Bryant and Bill Boronkay of Cleveland, and musical acts, including Sexy Pig Divas and Brian Johnson, also will perform.

Tickets on sale for ‘Bodies’ exhibit

Tickets are on sale for “Bodies: The Exhibition,” which opens June 5 at Euclid Avenue and East Fourth Street. The exhibition is expected to run until October. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

“Bodies” features real, whole and partial body specimens that have been meticulously dissected and preserved.

Competition for playwrights

CLEVELAND

Cuyahoga Community College is having a competition for playwrights in Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Michigan and Indiana. Original, full-length plays of any genres are eligible, except musicals and adaptations. Plays must be at least one hour long.

The deadline for submission is Sept. 1. Winners will be notified in February. The first-place award is $1,000; second place, $500; and third place, $250. The entry fee is $25.

Submissions should include a cover page with playwright contact information and title of the piece.
