GIRARD
New evidence has been obtained in the Jan. 25, 1988, abduction, rape and murder of Eileen Zarlenga, 29, of Girard.
At the request of the Girard Police Department and Mahoning County sheriff’s office, Crime Stoppers of Greater Youngstown is offering a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people who killed Zarlenga.
The public’s help is needed to develop suspects that can be matched to evidence in the case.
The victim was lured from her home on Partricia Drive by a person or people she knew, police believe. At the time of her abduction, the victim’s 3-year-old daughter was asleep in the home. Family has said Zarlenga never would have left the child alone.
Her body was discovered five days later in a wooded area near Gladstone Road in Jackson Township.
