Fire department acquires animal oxygen masks

EAST LIVERPOOL
A fire department has acquired a set of oxygen masks for pets after a firefighter used his mask to save a single dog in a blaze that killed four others.
The East Liverpool Fire Department received the set from the city’s Civil Service Commission secretary after the fire last month.
Secretary Jane Miller says she decided to donate the set after learning that a city firefighter used his own air mask to save a dog.
City Hall colleagues quickly donated enough money to buy a second set to outfit two firetrucks.
The $55 set of small, medium and large masks can be used to revive dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs and even birds.
