Bomb threat cuts short prom

HAWLEY, Pa. (AP) — Students a northeastern Pennsylvania high school cut their prom short after a bomb threat was called in to the resort where they had planned to dance the night away.

The Western Wayne High School prom was disrupted Saturday night when some called in a bomb threat to Ehrhardt’s Waterfront Resort.

State police say a male caller demanded that all the boys leave the prom while the girls stayed inside or he’d detonate a bomb hidden in the banquet facility.

The students were immediately evacuated from the restaurant in Hawley, about 100 miles north of Philadelphia.

Police searched the premises and found nothing, but the students decided to end the party early because of the scare.

State police believe the call was a prank but are continuing to investigate.
