Qualifying: The Hartford native competed in Saturday’s Southern 500 in Darlington, S.C., which was not completed in time for this edition. He qualified in 28th position on Friday, with a lap speed of 177.166 mph.

Season to date: Blaney didn’t qualify for last weekend’s race in Richmond, Va., but remained in 40th place in the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings.

Next weekend: NASCAR’s top series heads to Dover, Del., for the Autism Speaks 400 presented by Hershey’s Milk and Milkshakes at the Dover International Speedway. Coverage begins at 1 p.m. on FOX.
