Olympic history in Youngstown tavern
youngstown
Suspended above the dining room of the Boulevard Tavern is a piece of history that is almost as old as the bar itself.
Owner Nick Petrella has acquired the scull that won the silver medal for the U.S. team in the 1928 Olympics in Amsterdam.
The 42-foot long craft, a “four-man sweep,” extends across the entire room, with oars positioned at each seat.
The scull was a gift from a friend, who found it hanging in the Ralph Lauren department of a Carson Pirie Scott department store in Chicago.
