Girard 11, Newton Falls 7

GIRARD

Mike Floravit had three hits and drove in two to lead the Indians past Newton Falls. Dante DelBene added two hits, and Kyle Richey doubled and drove in two RBIs for Girard (18-6, 8-2). Matt Brazin and Nick Mock each had two doubled for Newton Falls. Brazin drove in three and Mock drove in two, while Cody Pelyak doubled for the Tigers (9-12, 4-5). Girard is the All-American Conference Blue Champions.

Chaney 13, East 3

YOUNGSTOWN

Chaney defeated East 13-3 in five innings. For Chaney, Scott Renda got the win, pitching his best outing of the year striking out six and giving up only three hits. Ryan Curtain had an RBI double, while Eddie Rovnak had two hits including a double. Tyler Lillo and Matt Franklin each had triples.

Canton South 3, West Branch 1

BELOIT

Logan Bowles gave up one run on six hits while striking out five to lead Canton South over the Warriors. Bowles also went 2 for 3 at the plate, while John Strasser added a double and Jared May added two hits. For the Warriors (13-9, 6-6), Matt Unkefer went 3 for 4 with a double while Mickey Manser doubled. Canton South improves to 11-12, 6-6.

Hubbard 13, Liberty 3

HUBBARD

Zach Palumbo had three hits and two RBIs to lead Hubbard (21-2, 8-0 AAC White), which led 10-0 after two innings. Bo Slemons and Kory Hopkinson each had two hits and scored twice for the Eagles, who have won three straight league crowns. Liberty is 8-12, 2-6.

South Range 9, Niles 3

NILES

Phil Arsuffi had two hits, two runs and three RBIs to lead South Range, which took a 9-0 lead entering the bottom of the fifth. Tom Delullo doubled, singled, scored twice and drove in a run, while Jon Deamicis (3-1) went the distance for the win and had two hits, two RBIs and scored a run. For Niles (14-12), Tyler Wiery and Nick Charnas each had two hits. South Range improves to 17-4.

Howland 2, Streetsboro 0

HOWLAND

Kenny Pozega had three hits, including a double, and scored a run to lead Howland (14-7). Eric Doan (1-1) pitched five shutout innings, giving up two hits with six strikeouts and two walks to get the win. Chris Maze added two hitless innings of relief with four strikeouts and one walk.

Mathews 17, Badger 0 (5 innings)

KINSMAN

John Homan had a three-hitter and the senior had a double and two singles and three RBIs for Mathews (17-3, 11-0 Northeast Athletic Conference).

Also for the Mustangs, Chris Morgan had a triple, double and single and three RBIs; Rick Sommers had a double and single and three RBIs and Corey Lumley had two singles and an RBI.

Junior Ryan Lattin had a double, while junior Kyle Myers and sophomore Mitch Givens had singles for Badger (3-16).

McDonald 8, Leetonia 0

LEETONIA

Senior Zach Puntel had seven strikeouts during a two-hitter and Anthony Raschilla and David John had three hits apiece for McDonald (14-3, 11-1 ITCL Tier Two).

John, a senior, had a two-run home run in the first inning and Raschilla, also a senior, had a three-run homer in the fifth.

Justin Colella and Lance Tullis had a single apiece for Leetonia.

Canton McKinley 8, Boardman 7 (8 innings)

CANTON

McKinley scored on an infield error with one out in the bottom of the eighth to snap a 7-7 tie and win the game.

Junior Mark Leone and senior Tyler Blangero knocked in two runs apiece for Boardman, while Sam Porter, a senior, had a double and single for the Spartans (7-14, 2-8 Federal).

Youngstown Christian 16, Ashtabula Sts. John & Paul 1 (5 innings)

STRUTHERS

Sophomore Anthony Abeid had three hits including a double, senior Brian Richey had three singles, senior Bobby Schmid and senior John Pecchia had a double and two singles and senior Caleb Yanno had a double and single for the Eagles (4-11).

Crestview 1, East Liverpool 0

COLUMBIANA

Brian Orr had two hits, stole three bases and scored the game’s only run for Crestview (13-11) on Wednesday. Brandon Brooks had the RBI and Tom Marnejon had a single and two walks. Logan Schaefer tossed a two-hit shutout with seven strikeouts to get the win.
