POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:

GIRARD

May 4

Menacing: A Girard man embroiled in a civil case with a woman told police she deliberately parked her vehicle behind his, preventing the accuser from leaving.

Theft: Bonnie L. Lenox, no information provided, was charged with stealing two food items from Santisi’s IGA Super Center, 419 N. State St.

May 5

Menacing: Several students at Girard High School, 31 N. Ward Ave., reported one student made threatening and racial comments toward another.

Criminal damaging: Someone damaged nine cinder blocks and a wooden door at a building in the 500 block of East Main Street. Total damage was about $500.

Assault: A 12-year-old boy told police a girl behind him on a school bus scratched his arm, back and neck.

Forgery: A South Ward Avenue woman reported receiving an $850 money order that turned out to be fraudulent.

Theft: A woman discovered a 12-gauge shotgun stored at a Ward Avenue residence may have been pawned without her consent.

Arrest: Brandon L. Baer, 453 E. Liberty St., was picked up near Highland Avenue on a warrant from the city.

HUBBARD

May 2

Criminal damaging: A Rebecca Avenue woman reported one of her trees had been vandalized.

May 3

Endangerment: Four children reportedly were left unattended near a business in the 800 block of West Liberty Street.

Burglary: Authorities arrested Michael Vasvari, no information given, on a warrant from Hubbard.

Theft: Scrap metal was stolen from behind Pitstop Auto Care, 350 N. Main St.

Drug paraphernalia: An Elmwood Drive woman said a family member found a wallet that contained suspected contraband.

Assault: Police received a report of an assault on a child in the 30 block of Hillview Drive.

LIBERTY

May 1

Criminal damaging: A man in the 400 block of Mansell Drive discovered damage to a garage-door panel.

Theft: Nicole R. Jones, 22, of 219 E. Ravenwood Ave., Youngstown, and 27-year-old Stephanie M. King, same address, were charged in the theft of three $10 baseball caps from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road.

May 2

Theft: A woman returned to a Church Hill-Hubbard Road business to retrieve a $12,500 engagement ring she had accidentally left but discovered it was missing.

Harassment: An employee with a Logan Avenue business reported her former boyfriend is making a series of harassing and unwanted calls.

Theft: Someone removed a political sign from property near Tibbetts-Wick and Naylor-Lloyd roads.

May 3

Arrest: A traffic stop on Goldie Road resulted in the arrest of 29-year-old Brian A. Guy, 126 W. Second St., Girard, on a charge of possession of dangerous drugs when, authorities said, he had Xanax tablets and admitted having an unlabeled bottle containing Vicodin.

Drug paraphernalia: James R. Larosa, 30, of 1320 W. Montrose Ave., Boardman, was arrested on Mansell Drive after police said they saw him driving while under suspension. Larosa also was charged with possession of drug-abuse instruments when, they said, he admitted having a hypodermic needle.

May 4

Arrest: Leon C. Reynolds, 36, of 4884 Westchester Drive, Austintown, was taken into custody at the Mahoning County jail on a warrant from the township.

Theft: Wanda M. Duck, 41, of 48 E. Delason Ave., Youngstown, along with a 13-year-old Poland girl, were charged with stealing $38 worth of candy from Rite Aid Pharmacy, 2704 Belmont Ave. Duck also faced a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

May 5

Assault: A Green Acres Drive woman reported a 33-year-old Youngstown man grabbed her neck and tossed her to the ground.

Identity theft: An elderly Norwick Drive man found out someone in Astoria, N.Y., had used his identity to obtain credit cards.
