Lower records 80th victory

Casey Lower (16-3) tossed a three-hit shutout on Thursday to earn her 80th career victory as the Ursuline High softball team blanked Western Reserve, 11-0.
Lower struck out five and didn’t walk a batter. She’s the 19th pitcher in Ohio to record 80 wins. Sarah Ingalls went 4 for 4 with six RBIs, ending the game in the bottom of the fifth with a three-run homer at Candlelite Knolls.
Malikka Caige added three hits for the Irish (16-4) while Sarah Marr and Krista Byers each added two.
Canfield 8, Niles 2
Canfield
Carlee Hart went 3 for 3 with four RBIs to lead the Cardinals. Sarah Vrabel added two hits and drove in three while Abby Baker doubled for the Cards (14-11, 6-2). For Niles (20-6), Lindsay Dodgson had an RBI single.
Poland 8, North Allegheny 1
WEXFORD, Pa.
Erin Gabriel (15-0) had 17 strikeouts in a three-hitter for Poland (22-1). Gabriel had a double, two singles and one RBI. Adriana Sikora had a double and two RBIs while Nicole White had a double and two RBIs. Kaylee Benson had two singles and two RBIs for the Bulldogs.
Struthers 4, Lisbon 1
LISBON
Dana Mathews’ two-run double in the second inning keyed Struthers (20-3). Ashley Baron (19-1) tossed a four-hitter with 13 strikeouts to get the win. For Lisbon, Lauren Ketchum tossed a four-hitter with 18 strikeouts. Katie Snoddy and Lauren Evans each added two hits.
Hubbard 7, Liberty 4
HUBBARD
Keri Durina and Samantha Dudley each had two hits and two RBIs to lead Hubbard (12-10, 5-3 AAC White). The Eagles took a 6-0 lead after three innings. Chelsea Callow had three hits for the Eagles. For Liberty (7-12, 2-5), Breanna Comer had two hits.
Champion 16, Harding 0
WARREN
Morgan White had nine strikeouts and no walks during a five-hitter for Champion (22-0). She also had two doubles. Sierra Blackson had two home runs and four RBIs. Taylor Petersal had three singles and three RBIs. Tawny Rogers had a two-run homer and Haley McAllister had two hits and was responsible for four runs scoring for the Golden Flashes. For Harding, Creelyn Provitt, Ashley Dugos and Cyree Tenney had singles while Anastascia Garrison and Lorra McMillion had bunt singles.
Girard 7, Newton Falls 2
NEWTON FALLS
Kiley Kulon hit three doubles, scored twice and drove in a run for the Indians (16-9, 7-3 All-American Conference Blue Tier). Chelsea Guerrieri’s two hits included a double. Winning pitcher Lisa Holmes (14-8) struck out six and walked two. Breanna Ginter and Abbie Harrah had RBI singles for the Tigers (7-17, 2-6).
McDonald 13, Leetonia 2
LEETONIA
Winning pitcher Kaitlin Rutushin (14-5) had three hits that drove in five runs. One was a double. Emily Magill and Ashley Alexander had two hits each including a double for the Blue Devils (14-5, 11-3 ITCL Tier Two). Magill drove in three runs and Alexander two, For the Bears, Stacie Medved had both of their hits.
Brookfield 9, Newton Falls 7
NEWTON FALLS
Brookfield’s Shannon Chrnko went 3 for 4 including a second-inning grand slam to lead Brookfield (5-16) in eight innings on Wednesday. Chrnko added a double and an eighth-inning RBI single, finishing with five RBIs. Makayla Crouser went 4 for 5 with two doubles to pace Newton Falls.
