Fitch track athletes break school records

It was a record-breaking weekend for a pair of Austintown Fitch track athletes.
The Falcons hosted the 30th annual Optimist Meet Saturday, which included 17 of the best track teams in northeast Ohio.
Te’John Lawrence posted a winning time of 21.76 to win the 200 and in the process, break the Fitch school record. The old mark was set by Davanzo Tate in 2002.
Lawrence’s time is the seventh fastest run in the state this season.
During the girls’ meet, Jen Shiley finished second in the 300 hurdles with a time of 45.42. That pace broke the school record set by Ashlee Case in 1996. Shiley is now ranked No. 10 in the state in the event.
Ali Tolich didn’t break any school records Saturday, but her performance was just as impressive.
She won titles in both the shot put and the discus. Tolich took the shot put with a throw of 42-3 and is ranked No. 3 in the state in the event.
Her toss of 154-8 in the discus is the top throw in the state so far this season. The throw earned her honors for the the Girls Outstanding Field Event performance.
The Fitch boys team scored 34.5 team points and finished fifth. Wadsworth (61) won the team title.
The Lady Falcons piled up 43.5 points to take sixth. Akron Buchtel claimed the team championship.
