Celebrating the art of children

The art styles of Jackson Pollack and Lois Ehlert came alive in a younger generation.
Children from St. Paul’s Child Care Center used their imagination, inspiration and art techniques from Eric Carle, Pollack, Ehlert, Leo Lionni and Keith Baker to create masterpieces that were displayed to family and friends at the center’s Annual Art Show Apr. 22.
The students ages 21‚Ñ2 to 10 made bowls, flowers, a collage from recycled materials, mosaics using beans, colorful paper squares, buttons and glass stones. The students also created items depicting the World of Walt Disney including a castle, teapot, poison apple and Mickey Mouse ears.
Visitors at the show got to wander through each classroom “museum” and see self portraits, neighborhood construction, painted rock ladybugs, marble and computer painting, clay and paper mache bowls tissue paper butterflies, egg carton snakes, torn paper outdoor scene, a magic fan and many other unique works of art.
The New Middleton day care center hosts the event to celebrate the work of young children.
