With the introduction of the Chevrolet Cruze, 12 Chevrolet models will be offered with fuel-efficient six-speed automatic transmissions. The Cruze, which will be built at the General Motors complex in Lords- town, will be available with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Compared with a four-speed automatic, the six-speed automatic has up to 4 percent better fuel economy and enhanced vehicle performance, GM said. The lineup of 2011 Chevy vehicles that will be available with a six-speed automatic transmission includes the Cruze, the Avalanche, the Camaro, the Corvette, the Equinox, the Express, the Malibu, the Silverado, the Silverado HD, the Suburban, the Tahoe and the Traverse.
