Teacher found guilty of child rape in Pa.
BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) — A former college English instructor from North Carolina has been convicted of raping a 12-year-old central Pennsylvania boy during a Christmas Eve encounter two years ago.
Kenneth Meyers could face between 20 to 80 years in prison after a jury found him guilty Wednesday of charges also including statutory sexual assault and indecent assault of a minor.
The 44-year-old Meyers was a community college instructor in Wilson, N.C. On the witness stand, he admitted to a “stupid” decision to engage in cybersex with the boy and kissing the boy in his bedroom while visiting the boy and his family at their Julian trailer.
Meyers said no more sexual activity occurred, but prosecutors said Meyers had essentially admitted to the assault with graphic chat messages.
