Lohan to star in film about porn star

LOS ANGELES

Lindsay Lohan has landed the lead role in an independent movie about 1970s porn star Linda Lovelace, one of the film’s producers said. The 24-year-old actress will play Lovelace, who shot to fame in the landmark 1972 porno movie “Deep Throat,” and Bill Pullman will portray Playboy magazine founder Hugh Hefner producer Wali Razaqi told The Los Angeles Times.

The film, called “Inferno,” will be based on the events of Lovelace’s life and will delve into the “difficult stuff she went through and overcame,” Razaqi said. Lovelace, whose real name was Linda Susan Boreman, starred in several adult films before gaining stardom with the runaway hit “Deep Throat,” one of the first porn movies to reach into mainstream culture. She later denounced her pornography career and became a spokeswoman for the anti-pornography movement. Boreman died in 2002 after a car crash in Denver.

Kelly Clarkson tops among ‘Idol’ alums

NEW YORK

Carrie Underwood may have sold more albums than Kelly Clarkson, but the original “American Idol” winner is still the most successful, according to Billboard. Clarkson has sold 10.6 million albums, 15.9 million tracks and has had 4.2 million radio plays, according to Billboard.com, ranking her the top graduate from “Idol.” Underwood has 11.5 million and 13.9 million for album and single sales, respectively. The country singer’s also had 2.4 million radio plays since she won “Idol” in 2005. The third most successful “Idol” never won and wasn’t even a runner up: It’s Chris Daughtry, who fronts his own band, Daughtry, which has sold 5.7 million albums.

Multimedia versions all-‘Right’ with Carey

LOS ANGELES

“The Price Is Right” host Drew Carey isn’t playing around when it comes to keeping TV’s longest-running game show current. Carey has eagerly welcomed iPhone, Xbox, Wii and other adaptations of “The Price Is Right” — and wants to see more, such as a Facebook game set for a June debut.

“I love it. I don’t think they’re doing as much as they should be doing. Business-wise, you should take advantage of every media stream you can,” he said, adding, “I want to be part of a gig that’s doing new things and trying stuff.” Carey is a relatively recent addition: He joined the show in October 2007 after the retirement of Bob Barker, the CBS daytime show’s host since its 1972 debut. (The original “The Price Is Right” started on NBC in 1956.)
