Kids’ safety program planned in Howland

The fire department will host a safety town child accident prevention program for preschool children.
Howland Springs School will host Safety Town the week of June 7. The Howland Glen school will host the program the week of June 14. Sessions run from 9 a.m. until noon Monday through Friday. A graduation ceremony will be held the last day of each event.
Under the guidance of a teacher, fire fighter, police officer and other trained volunteers, children will practice and experience real life situations. Children will learn safety measures dealing with seat belt use, pets, fire, water, poison, guns and more. Activities include a ride on a school bus. Participating children will be fingerprinted.
Registrations forms are available at the Howland fire department. Registration deadline is June 1. There is no fee for Howland residents. The cost for non-residents is $30.
